Ways to Help

Many marine animal populations are in dire need of help due to human actions, so they need all the help possible. Sometimes, it is as simple as raising awareness of an issue. There are numerous ways that you can help to save marine animals in need of help.

A few items are:

  • Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Minimize the amount of materials that need to go to landfills
  • Clean-ups. Organize or participate in shoreline clean-ups
  • If you live along waterways or coasts, be cognizant of your yard watering, fertilizing and using pesticides on your lawn.
  • Volunteer.  Get involved in local organizations that help to help the environment and animals. BWRI is always looking for dedicated volunteers, please contact us to learn more about the critical roles our volunteers play.
  • Read. Read and read some more to be informed on your choices, both where your money is spent, but also food choices. Websites like NOAA’s Fish Watch and Monterey Aquarium’s Seafood Watch.
